Why Group??
Group therapy offers teens a rare chance to develop social confidence and self assurance
Developmentally social relationships and connecting with one another are the priorities for pre-teen and teens. Unfortunately, developmentally this is also when these skills are often at their lowest for a variety of reasons. With the help of a skilled group therapist and the creation of a safe environment, teens begin to let their guard down, they begin to become more self-aware, confident and connected to their peers.
A meta-analysis of 56 studies over a 20-year period, reported in the Journal of Clinical Child Psychology, reports that group therapy was proven more effective with children and teenagers than other forms of therapy. It reports that the average child or adolescent treated by group treatment was better off than 73 percent of those not.
